0011|     REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO ESTABLISH A
    |
0012|     POST OFFICE IN THE VILLAGE OF LOS RANCHOS DE ALBUQUERQUE.

0014|          WHEREAS, the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque has a
    |
0015|                                                                 population of about five thousand six hundred people; and   
    |
0016|          WHEREAS, the nearest post offices are five miles north
    |
0017|     and eight miles south of the center of the village; and 
    |
0018|          WHEREAS, historically and socially a community's post
    |
0019|     office has been its heart; and
    |
0020|          WHEREAS, Los Ranchos de Albuquerque has existed for forty
    |
0021|     years but has never had its own post office or zip code; and 
    |
0022|          WHEREAS, the fact that business mail destined for the
    |
0023|     village is actually addressed to Albuquerque hampers the
    |
0024|     village's business growth and creates confusion about its
    |
0025|     identity and location; and

0001|          WHEREAS, about twenty percent of the village's population
    |
0002|     is over the age of fifty-five, and its elderly citizens need a
    |
0003|     closer post office for reasons of health and security;
    |
0004|          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE
    |
0005|     OF NEW MEXICO THAT the United States postal service be
    |
0006|     requested to establish a post office in the village of Los
    |
0007|     Ranchos de Albuquerque; and 
    |
0008|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT copies of this memorial be
    |
0009|     sent to the postmaster of the United States, Senator Pete V.
    |
0010|     Domenici and Representative Steven H. Schiff.
