0011|     RECOGNIZING THE VALUE OF VOCATIONAL EDUCATION.

0013|          WHEREAS, most graduating high school students need
    |
0014|     employability skills training; and
    |
0015|          WHEREAS, vocational education, its post-secondary
    |
0016|     articulation component and technical preparatory courses
    |
0017|     provide employability skills;
    |
0018|          NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
    |
0019|     REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that it continue to
    |
0020|     establish vocational education policies based on:
    |
0021|               A.  technical preparatory-school to work;
    |
0022|               B.  applied technology and systems application;
    |
0023|               C.  strengthening initiatives to improve
    |
0024|     employability skills and work ethics;
    |
0025|               D.  essential foundation for higher education and
    |

0002|               E.  individual student needs, promoting personal
    |
0003|     growth and leadership opportunities;
    |
0004|               F.  continuous contribution to the growth of
    |
0005|     business and industry;
    |
0006|               G.  strengthening individual ability to act as a

0007|     productive citizen;
    |
0008|               H.  enriching the quality of life for individuals
    |
0009|     and families as a basic unit of society; and
    |
0010|               I.  expanding collaborative school health,
    |
0011|     counseling and information services; and
    |
0012|          BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
    |
0013|     transmitted to the chairman of the governing board of each
    |
0014|     technical-vocational school.
