ARAGON | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A MEMORIAL | 0011| EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY OF JOSEPH | 0012| "PEPE" NAJERA. | 0013| | 0014| WHEREAS, Joseph "Pepe" Najera was born April 13, 1922 in | 0015| El Paso and raised in Oakland, California; and | 0016| WHEREAS, he died of cancer on January 18, 1998, two weeks | 0017| after being diagnosed and fifty-three years after marrying | 0018| Mary Metzgar Najera; and | 0019| WHEREAS, he was active in the democratic party as a | 0020| precinct and ward official for more than fifty years; and | 0021| WHEREAS, he was always involved in community service in | 0022| the south valley; and | 0023| WHEREAS, he was a loved and respected leader as well as a | 0024| fun-loving, caring person who was always available when family | 0025| or friends needed him; and | - 1 - 0001| WHEREAS, he is survived by his wife Mary Metzgar Najera, | 0002| his two daughters Barbara and Carrie, grandchildren Keith, | 0003| Shannon, Tereah and Jamie and two great-grandchildren; | 0004| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE | 0005| OF NEW MEXICO that condolences be extended to the friends and | 0006| family of Joseph "Pepe" Najera, an outstanding and devoted New | 0007| Mexican. | 0008|  |
