0001| SENATE MEMORIAL 14 | 0002| 43RD LEGISLATURE - STATE OF NEW MEXICO - SECOND SESSION, 1998 | 0003| INTRODUCED BY | 0004| JOHN PINTO | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING THE STATE HIGHWAY AND TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT TO | 0012| STUDY THE FEASIBILITY OF CONSTRUCTING A "NORTHSIDE LOOP" IN | 0013| GALLUP IN MCKINLEY COUNTY. | 0014| | 0015| WHEREAS, traffic on Gallup roads is extremely heavy; and | 0016| WHEREAS, the intersection of Maloney avenue and | 0017| interstate 40, near the Rio West mall is congested throughout | 0018| the day and has become very dangerous; and | 0019| WHEREAS, a loop around the northside of Gallup has been | 0020| suggested as a potential solution to the heavy traffic on | 0021| Maloney avenue going north from interstate 40 to state highway | 0022| 666; | 0023| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE | 0024| OF NEW MEXICO that the state highway and transportation | 0025| department be requested to study the feasibility, routing and | - 1 - 0001| anticipated costs of constructing a northside loop to relieve | 0002| congestion in the Rio West mall area of Gallup; and | 0003| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0004| transmitted to the state highway and transportation | 0005| department, the district six engineer of the state highway and | 0006| transportation department and the mayor of the city of Gallup. | 0007|  |
