RODARTE | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING THE LEGISLATIVE EDUCATION STUDY COMMITTEE TO ASSESS | 0012| THE FEASIBILITY OF AND PREPARE LEGISLATION TO EARMARK PAYMENT | 0013| IN LIEU OF TAXES FROM THE VALLECITOS FEDERAL SUSTAINED YIELD | 0014| UNIT TO THE MESA VISTA CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICT. | 0015| | 0016| WHEREAS, the Vallecitos federal sustained yield unit of | 0017| the Carson national forest is a unique seventy-three thousand | 0018| acre forest management unit located within the Mesa Vista | 0019| consolidated school district; and | 0020| WHEREAS, the Mesa Vista consolidated school district does | 0021| not benefit from the Vallecitos federal sustained yield unit; | 0022| and | 0023| WHEREAS, the Mesa Vista consolidated school district | 0024| requests a new special educational subsidy of a grant of | 0025| noncategorical funds to subsidize a comprehensive vocational | - 1 - 0001| and technical instructional program in agriculture, wood work | 0002| and business for high school students; | 0003| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE | 0004| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the legislative education study | 0005| committee be requested to assess the feasibility of and | 0006| prepare legislation to earmark the payment in lieu of taxes | 0007| money from the Vallecitos federal sustained yield unit for a | 0008| special educational subsidy to the Mesa Vista consolidated | 0009| school district; and | 0010| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be | 0011| transmitted to the director of the legislative education study | 0012| committee. | 0013|  |
