0011|     REQUESTING THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO ESTABLISH A

0012|     POST OFFICE IN THE VILLAGE OF LOS RANCHOS DE ALBUQUERQUE.

0014|          WHEREAS, the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque has a
    |
0015|     population of about five thousand six hundred people; and
    |
0016|          WHEREAS, the nearest post offices are five miles to the
    |
0017|     north of the center of the village and eight miles to the
    |
0018|     south; and
    |
0019|          WHEREAS, historically and socially, the village post
    |
0020|     office has served as the heart of the community; and
    |
0021|        WHEREAS, the village has existed for forty years but has
    |
0022|     never had its own post office or zip code; and
    |
0023|        WHEREAS, the fact that business mail destined for the
    |
0024|     village is actually addressed to Albuquerque hampers the
    |
0025|     village's business growth; and
    |

0001|        WHEREAS, about twenty percent of the population is over
    |
0002|     fifty-five and the elderly need a closer post office for
    |
0003|     reasons of health and security;
    |
0004|        NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
    |
0005|     REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the United
    |
0006|     States postal service be requested to establish a post office
    |
0007|     in the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque; and
    |
0008|        BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
    |
0009|     transmitted to the United States postmaster general and to the
    |
0010|     New Mexico congressional delegation.
