HOUSE CAPITAL OUTLAY REQUEST 286 STATE OF NEW MEXICO 43RD LEGISLATURE - SECOND SESSION, 1998 REQUESTED BY M. MICHAEL OLGUIN FOR CAPITAL PROJECTS FOR HOUSE DISTRICT 49. I request that the following capital outlay projects be funded: to the state agency on aging: ten thousand dollars ($10,000) to pave the parking lot at the senior citizen center in Socorro in Socorro county; to the local government division of the department of finance and administration: - 1 - A. forty-five thousand dollars ($45,000) to equip the medical health clinic in Magdalena in Socorro county; B. one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to renovate the dorm complex in Magdalena in Socorro county; C. twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to construct a dog impoundment facility in Magdalena in Socorro county; D. twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to develop Magdalena park at Eighth and Main streets in Magdalena in Socorro county; E. twelve thousand eight hundred twenty dollars ($12,820) for communications equipment for the Reserve volunteer fire department in Catron county; F. twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to construct and maintain an additional FM translator station to allow the KANW-FM radio station to serve Socorro in Socorro county; G. three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to renovate the Socorro county courthouse and jail, the health center and the Ernest Peralta building in Socorro in Socorro - 2 - county; H. two hundred fifty thousand dollars ($250,000) to restore and rebuild the Escondida Lake recreational area in Socorro county; I. twenty-five thousand dollars ($25,000) to construct an animal shelter in Socorro county; J. two hundred forty-four thousand six hundred dollars ($244,600) to renovate the Socorro public library to meet requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and to complete the second and third floors, exterior drainage, ramps and walks in Socorro county; K. three hundred two thousand four hundred dollars ($302,400) to expand the Sierra county courthouse; to the office of the state engineer: two hundred seventy-three thousand three hundred eighteen dollars ($273,318) to make improvements to the La Joya acequia in Socorro county; - 3 - to the department of environment: A. three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) for water system improvements in Reserve in Catron county; B. four hundred five thousand dollars ($405,000) for wastewater treatment plant renovations or replacement in Reserve in Catron county; and C. one hundred forty thousand dollars ($140,000) for equipment for the water and sewer departments in Reserve in Catron county; to the state department of public education: A. three million four hundred thousand dollars ($3,400,000) to design, construct, furnish and equip a new elementary school for the Socorro consolidated schools in Socorro county; B. one hundred eighty-two thousand two hundred dollars - 4 - ($182,200) to purchase and install educational technology at the Quemado independent school district 2 in Catron county; to the board of regents of the New Mexico institute of mining and technology: eight million four hundred thousand dollars ($8,400,000) to renovate, remodel and construct and addition to Jones, Weir and Cramer halls at the New Mexico institute of mining and technology in Socorro in Socorro county; to the state highway and transportation department: A. sixty-seven thousand dollars ($67,000) for street repairs in Reserve in Catron county; B. two hundred eighty-nine thousand dollars ($289,000) to improve drainage along California street in Socorro in Socorro county; C. one hundred eighty-seven thousand dollars ($187,000) for citywide paving and utility improvements in Socorro in Socorro county; - 5 - D. one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) to plan and engineer the construction needed for improvements to highway 142 in Sierra county; E. one million five hundred twelve thousand dollars ($1,512,000) for improvements to the Elephant Butte Lake park access road in Sierra county; and F. six hundred ninety-four thousand dollars ($694,000) for street and drainage improvements to Riverside drive between Cherry lane and Third street in Truth or Consequences in Sierra county; to the New Mexico office of Indian affairs: three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000) to plan, design, construct, furnish or equip a head start facility for the Alamo chapter of the Navajo nation in Socorro county.
