A new section of Chapter 17, Article 3 NMSA | 0018| 1978 is enacted to read: | 0019| "[|NEW MATERIAL|] LANDOWNER PERMITS--MANAGEMENT OF | 0020| CERTAIN BIG GAME SPECIES.--The director of the department of | 0021| game and fish may issue landowner permits for the lawful | 0022| taking of elk, antelope, oryx, bighorn sheep, barbary sheep | 0023| and deer. The permits may be issued when, in the | 0024| determination of the director, they are necessary to | 0025| effectively reduce conflicts between humans and wildlife and | - 1 - 0001| provide sport-hunting opportunities in accordance with | 0002| regulations of the state game commission." | 0003| Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the | 0004| provisions of this act is July 1, 1998. | 0005|  |
