APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred fifty thousand | 0016| dollars ($250,000) is appropriated from the general fund to | 0017| the library division of the office of cultural affairs for | 0018| expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of contracting | 0019| with a statewide nonprofit adult literacy organization to | 0020| promote, coordinate and enhance adult and intergenerational | 0021| literacy opportunities and services throughout the state. | 0022| This appropriation is designated for training, technical | 0023| assistance and operating support for volunteer-based literacy | 0024| programs statewide, emphasizing activities designed to | 0025| interrupt intergenerational cycles of illiteracy and to | - 1 - 0001| promote public and private partnerships to address the | 0002| challenge of illiteracy in New Mexico. Any unexpended or | 0003| unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 | 0004| shall revert to the general fund. | 0005|  |
