0011| RELATING TO THE NEW MEXICO HISPANIC CULTURAL CENTER ACT;

0012| PROVIDING FOR THE ADMINISTRATION AND OPERATION OF THE ONATE
|
0013| MONUMENT AND VISITORS CENTER BY THE HISPANIC CULTURAL
|
0014| DIVISION; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION.

0016| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0017| Section 1. A new section of the New Mexico Hispanic
|
0018| Cultural Center Act is enacted to read:
|
0019| "[NEW MATERIAL] ADDITIONAL DUTIES--ONATE MONUMENT AND
|
0020| VISITORS CENTER.--In addition to the powers and duties
|
0021| enumerated in Section 18-12-7 NMSA 1978, the executive
|
0022| director shall be responsible for the operation of the Onate
|
0023| monument and visitors center in Rio Arriba county. The Onate
|
0024| monument and visitors center shall be a facility of the
|
0025| division and the powers and duties of the board, division and
|

0001| executive director relating to the New Mexico Hispanic
|
0002| cultural center shall also apply to the Onate monument and
|
0003| visitors center."

0004| Section 2. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars
|
0005| ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
|
0006| Hispanic cultural division of the office of cultural affairs
|
0007| for expenditure in fiscal years 1998 and 1999 for the purpose
|
0008| of administering and operating the Onate monument and visitors
|
0009| center. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at
|
0010| the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the general fund.

0011| Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the
|
0012| provisions of this act is the first day of the month following
|
0013| the month in which the executive director of the Hispanic
|
0014| cultural division certifies to the secretary of finance and
|
0015| administration that the board of county commissioners for Rio
|
0016| Arriba county has:
|
0017| A. entered into a long-term lease with the office
|
0018| of cultural affairs for the Onate monument and visitors
|
0019| center; and
|
0020| B. transferred all other tangible and intangible
|
0021| property of the Onate monument and visitors center to the
|
0022| office of cultural affairs.
