0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR GRADUATE RESEARCH PROJECTS

0012|     STATEWIDE.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0016|               A.  Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is
    |
0017|     appropriated from the general fund to the governing bodies of
    |
0018|     the following institutions for expenditure in fiscal year 1999
    |
0019|     in the following amounts for the purpose of funding graduate
    |
0020|     student research:
    |
0021|                    (1)  two hundred sixty thousand dollars
    |
0022|     ($260,000) to the board of regents of the university of New
    |
0023|     Mexico;
    |
0024|                    (2)  one hundred sixty-five thousand dollars
    |
0025|     ($165,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state
    |

0002|                    (3)  thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) to the
    |
0003|     board of regents of New Mexico highlands university;
    |
0004|                    (4)  twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to the
    |
0005|     board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and
    |
0006|     technology;
    |
0007|                    (5)  fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to the
    |
0008|     board of regents of eastern New Mexico university; and
    |
0009|                    (6)  ten thousand dollars ($10,000) to the
    |
0010|     board of regents of western New Mexico university.
    |
0011|               B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0012|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the
    |
0013|     general fund.
