0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE

0012|     UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO TO CONTRACT FOR THE OPERATION OF A
    |
0013|     STATEWIDE PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES RECREATIONAL, EDUCATIONAL AND
    |
0014|     CULTURAL ACTIVITIES FOR AT-RISK YOUTHS AND THEIR FAMILIES.

0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Six hundred thousand dollars
    |
0018|     ($600,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board
    |
0019|     of regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in
    |
0020|     fiscal years 1999 through 2001, to be expended in the amount
    |
0021|     of two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) during each fiscal
    |
0022|     year, for the purpose of contracting for the operation of a
    |
0023|     statewide program that provides recreational, educational and
    |
0024|     cultural activities for at-risk youths and their families.  An
    |
0025|     evaluation of the program's effectiveness shall be conducted
    |

0001|     by the university of New Mexico's institute for social
    |
0002|     research.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at
    |
0003|     the end of fiscal year 2001 shall revert to the general fund.
