0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR GRADUATE STUDENT RESEARCH AT

0012|     CERTAIN POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0016|               A.  Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is
    |
0017|     appropriated from the general fund to the commission on higher
    |
0018|     education for distribution in the following amounts to the
    |
0019|     following post-secondary educational institutions for
    |
0020|     expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for the purpose of graduate
    |
0021|     research projects and travel:
    |
0022|                    (1)  two hundred sixty thousand dollars
    |
0023|     ($260,000) to the board of regents of the university of New
    |
0024|     Mexico;
    |
0025|                    (2)  one hundred sixty thousand dollars
    |

0001|     ($160,000) to the board of regents of New Mexico state
    |
0002|     university;
    |
0003|                    (3)  thirty thousand dollars ($30,000) to the
    |
0004|     board of regents of New Mexico highlands university;
    |
0005|                    (4)  twenty thousand dollars ($20,000) to the
    |
0006|     board of regents of New Mexico institute of mining and
    |
0007|     technology;
    |
0008|                    (5)  fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to the
    |
0009|     board of regents of eastern New Mexico university; and
    |
0010|                    (6)  fifteen thousand dollars ($15,000) to the
    |
0011|     board of regents of western New Mexico university.
    |
0012|               B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0013|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the
    |
0014|     general fund.
