0011|     RELATING TO HEALTH; AUTHORIZING CHIROPRACTORS TO PARTICIPATE

0012|     IN THE HEALTH PROFESSIONAL LOAN REPAYMENT PROGRAM.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  Section 21-22D-3 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1995,
    |
0016|     Chapter 144, Section 18) is amended to read:
    |
0017|          "21-22D-3.  DEFINITIONS.--As used in the Health
    |
0018|     Professional Loan Repayment Act:
    |
0019|               A.  "commission" means the commission on higher
    |
0020|     education;
    |
0021|               B.  "health professional" means a primary care
    |
0022|     physician, optometrist, podiatrist, physician's assistant,
    |
0023|     dentist, nurse, <u>chiropractor,</u> member of an allied health
    |
0024|     profession as defined in the Allied Health Student Loan for
    |
0025|     Service Act or a licensed or certified health professional as
    |

0001|     determined by the commission; and
    |
0002|               C.  "loan" means a grant of money to defray the
    |
0003|     costs incidental to a health education, under a contract
    |
0004|     between the federal government or a commercial lender and a
    |
0005|     health professional, requiring either repayment of principal
    |
0006|     and interest or repayment in services."
