0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO PROVIDE FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF

0012|     FUNDS TO EACH PUBLIC SCHOOL FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF EDUCATIONAL

0013|     TECHNOLOGY PROGRAMS.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0017|               A.  Twenty million dollars ($20,000,000) is
    |
0018|     appropriated from the general fund to the state department of
    |
0019|     public education for expenditure in fiscal year 1999 for the
    |
0020|     purpose of distributing to each public school its by-school
    |
0021|     distribution for the development of educational technology
    |
0022|     programs including the acquisition and installation of
    |
0023|     educational technology.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0024|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert
    |
0025|     to the general fund.

0001|               B.  The state department of public education shall
    |
0002|     establish an application procedure for the distribution of
    |
0003|     funds to each public school for the establishment of
    |
0004|     educational technology programs including the acquisition and
    |
0005|     installation of educational technology.  Each public school
    |
0006|     may apply directly to the state department of public education
    |
0007|     for funding.
