0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO COMMISSION FOR THE

0012|     BLIND TO HIRE ADDITIONAL STAFF AND CONTRACT FOR THE OPERATION

0013|     OF INDEPENDENT LIVING CENTERS FOR VISUALLY IMPAIRED AND
    |
0014|     HEARING-IMPAIRED PERSONS.

0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--
    |
0018|               A.  One hundred seventy-eight thousand dollars
    |
0019|     ($178,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the New
    |
0020|     Mexico commission for the blind for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0021|     1999 in the following amounts and for the following purposes:
    |
0022|                    (1)  forty-eight thousand dollars ($48,000) to
    |
0023|     pay salaries and benefits for two additional full-time
    |
0024|     employees; and
    |
0025|                    (2)  one hundred thirty thousand dollars

0001|     ($130,000) to contract for the operation of four independent
    |
0002|     living centers for visually impaired and hearing-impaired
    |
0003|     persons.  The centers shall be located in Santa Fe,
    |
0004|     Albuquerque, Farmington and Las Cruces.

0005|               B.  Any unexpended and unencumbered balance
    |
0006|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the
    |
0007|     general fund.
