0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR LEGISLATIVE LEADERSHIP STAFF.

0013|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0014|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred forty-six
    |
0015|     thousand five hundred ninety dollars ($546,590) is
    |
0016|     appropriated from the general fund to the legislative council
    |
0017|     service for expenditure in fiscal year 1999 to provide staff
    |
0018|     for the speaker of the house, president pro tempore and the
    |
0019|     majority and minority leadership offices of each house to
    |
0020|     assist the legislative leadership in carrying out the ever-
    |
0021|     increasing institutional duties of the leaders in
    |
0022|     accomplishing the work of the legislature, including primarily
    |
0023|     coordinating and communicating with other members of the
    |
0024|     legislature, other branches of government, the media and the
    |
0025|     public; policy analysis and special projects; and office-
    |

0001|     related duties.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0002|     remaining at the end of fiscal year 1999 shall revert to the
    |
0003|     general fund.
