0011| PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 2, SECTION 6 OF THE

0012| CONSTITUTION OF NEW MEXICO TO PERMIT THE CARRYING OF CONCEALED

0013| WEAPONS.

0015| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0016| Section 1. It is proposed to amend Article 2, Section 6
|
0017| of the constitution of New Mexico to read:
|
0018| "No law shall abridge the right of the citizen to keep and
|
0019| bear arms for security and defense, for lawful hunting and
|
0020| recreational use and for other lawful purposes [but nothing
|
0021| herein shall be held to permit the carrying of concealed
|
0022| weapons]. No municipality or county shall regulate, in any
|
0023| way, an incident of the right to keep and bear arms."

0024| Section 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution
|
0025| shall be submitted to the people for their approval or
|
0001| rejection at the next general election or at any special
|
0002| election prior to that date which may be called for that
|
0003| purpose.
