GARCIA | 0005| | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| FOR THE LEGISLATIVE HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE | 0009| | 0010| A JOINT MEMORIAL | 0011| REQUESTING THAT THE NEW MEXICO LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL CREATE A | 0012| LEGISLATIVE CHILD-CARE REVIEW COMMITTEE TO CONSIDER CHILD-CARE | 0013| NEEDS OF THE PARTICIPANTS OF THE TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE FOR NEEDY | 0014| FAMILIES PROGRAM. | 0015| | 0016| WHEREAS, the United States congress adopted the Personal | 0017| Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act of 1996; and | 0018| WHEREAS, the need for child-care services of the families | 0019| participating in the temporary assistance for needy families | 0020| program are not known; and | 0021| WHEREAS, the needs of children for safe and affordable | 0022| child care are of permanent importance; | 0023| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE | 0024| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the New Mexico legislative council | 0025| establish a child-care review committee consisting of | 0001| legislators to consider the child-care needs of the temporary | 0002| assistance for needy families program participants; and | 0003| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the child-care review | 0004| committee report to the New Mexico legislative council its | 0005| findings and recommendations by December 1, 1997; and | 0006| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be | 0007| transmitted to the secretaries of the human services department | 0008| and children, youth and families department. | 0009|  |
