0011| REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO MAINTAIN ITS CURRENT

0012| FIELD OFFICES TO SERVICE CITIZENS OF NEW MEXICO THROUGHOUT THE
|
0013| STATE.

0015| WHEREAS, the legislature has appropriated money to
|
0016| maintain field offices by the various state agencies in order
|
0017| to provide services throughout the state, especially in rural
|
0018| areas where citizens may face special hardships in obtaining
|
0019| the services of state agencies; and
|
0020| WHEREAS, department of health services in particular
|
0021| directly affect citizens' health and welfare; and
|
0022| WHEREAS, proposals are before this legislature to reduce
|
0023| the level of service by eliminating department of health field
|
0024| offices; and
|
0025| WHEREAS, specifically, the department of health is
|
0001| proposing to close its offices in district 50, in Estancia and
|
0002| Moriarty; and
|
0003| WHEREAS, these offices are extremely important to Torrance
|
0004| county residents; and
|
0005| WHEREAS, if the offices in Torrance county are closed it
|
0006| will mean that the county loses the benefits of the drug-free
|
0007| program and the community emergency fund, which the department
|
0008| of health administers, and that the maternal and child health
|
0009| care grants will be affected;
|
0010| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
|
0011| REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the department
|
0012| of health be requested to maintain its field offices in
|
0013| Estancia and Moriarty and other rural areas of the state to
|
0014| optimize services to those citizens most needful of and
|
0015| benefited by them;
|
0016| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
|
0017| transmitted to the secretary of health.
