0010| A JOINT MEMORIAL

0011| REQUESTING THAT THE UNINCORPORATED VILLAGE OF LINCOLN BE
|
0012| DESIGNATED AS A SPECIAL HISTORIC DISTRICT.

0014| WHEREAS, the unincorporated village of Lincoln is
|
0015| currently designated as a historic district; and
|
0016| WHEREAS, the residents of the unincorporated village of
|
0017| Lincoln are interested in moving toward self-determination with
|
0018| respect to their community; and
|
0019| WHEREAS, the current mechanisms that could be used to
|
0020| obtain self-determination over their community are
|
0021| unacceptable; and
|
0022| WHEREAS, the unincorporated village of Lincoln does not
|
0023| meet the requirements for a special assessment district, and
|
0024| incorporation into a municipality carries too many burdens; and
|
0025| WHEREAS, the designation of the unincorporated village of
|
0001| Lincoln as a special historic district is necessary to preserve
|
0002| the historic character and integrity of the district; and
|
0003| WHEREAS, the unincorporated village of Lincoln is a
|
0004| unique, historic treasure deserving the protection and support
|
0005| of the state to ensure its continued existence as a historic
|
0006| district;
|
0007| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
|
0008| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the unincorporated village of Lincoln
|
0009| be designated as a special historic district; and
|
0010| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
|
0011| transmitted to the board of commissioners of Lincoln county.
