0011| HONORING MANA DEL NORTE AND REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR TO
|
0012| RECOGNIZE FEBRUARY 22 AS MANA DEL NORTE DAY.

0014| WHEREAS, Mana del Norte originated in April 1989, when a
|
0015| group of women gathered to share a vision committed to
|
0016| improving the quality of life and education of Hispanic women;
|
0017| and
|
0018| WHEREAS, Mana del Norte will strive to enhance the
|
0019| Hispanic achievement, history, language and culture, which are
|
0020| a distinctive and important part of the heritage of the state;
|
0021| and
|
0022| WHEREAS, Mana del Norte, as a Hispanic women's
|
0023| organization, has the opportunity to enrich the quality of life
|
0024| of our country and our state through the active sharing of our
|
0025| Hispanic cultural heritage and values; and
|
0001| WHEREAS, it is one of the objectives of Mana del Norte to
|
0002| act affirmatively to achieve unity and full and equal
|
0003| participation of Hispanic women in the political, social and
|
0004| economic fruits of our country and our state; and
|
0005| WHEREAS, in 1997, Mana del Norte is celebrating its eighth
|
0006| anniversary as a chapter of northern New Mexico;
|
0007| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
|
0008| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the Mana del Norte be honored for its
|
0009| firm commitment to improve the quality of life and education of
|
0010| Hispanic women and for the inspiration Mana del Norte has given
|
0011| to many women to improve their quality of life; and
|
0012| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the governor be requested to
|
0013| recognize February 22 as Mana del Norte day and that all New
|
0014| Mexicans be encouraged to commit themselves to improve the
|
0015| quality of life and education in their own communities for all
|
0016| human beings; and
|
0017| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this memorial be
|
0018| transmitted to the governor.
