0011| RELATING TO MUNICIPAL GOVERNMENT; PROVIDING FOR GOVERNING BODY

0012| DESIGNATION OF THE POWERS OF CITY MANAGERS.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015| Section 1. Section 3-13-3 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1965,
|
0016| Chapter 300, Section 14-12-3, as amended) is amended to read:
|
0017| "3-13-3. APPOINTMENT OF MANAGER--DUTIES AND
|
0018| QUALIFICATIONS.--The governing body of any municipality having
|
0019| a population of one thousand or more persons may provide for a
|
0020| manager either by ordinance or by an election to be called by
|
0021| the governing body upon the filing of a petition containing the
|
0022| signatures of at least ten percent of the registered voters in
|
0023| the municipality. The office of manager shall either carry
|
0024| the same qualifications, duties and responsibilities as
|
0025| provided for a manager under Sections 3-14-13 through 3-14-15
|
0001| NMSA 1978 or the governing body shall, by ordinance, set the
|
0002| qualifications for and designate to the manager any duties and
|
0003| responsibilities it deems appropriate to the office. The
|
0004| duties and responsibilities may include the authority to hire,
|
0005| fire and supervise employees of the municipality."
