0011| RELATING TO MAGISTRATE JUDGES; PROVIDING THAT A RETIRED

0012| MAGISTRATE JUDGE MAY BE APPOINTED AS A SPECIAL MASTER,

0013| ARBITRATOR OR MAGISTRATE JUDGE PRO TEMPORE; ENACTING A NEW
|
0014| SECTION OF THE NMSA 1978.

0016| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0017| Section 1. A new Section 35-2-6 NMSA 1978 is enacted to
|
0018| read:
|
0019| "35-2-6. [NEW MATERIAL] APPOINTMENT AS SPECIAL MASTER,
|
0020| ARBITRATOR OR MAGISTRATE JUDGE PRO TEMPORE.--A chief district
|
0021| court judge may appoint a retired magistrate judge, with the
|
0022| retired judge's consent, to serve as a special master, an
|
0023| arbitrator or a magistrate judge pro tempore. The retired
|
0024| magistrate judge shall be compensated for his services as
|
0025| provided for nonsalaried public officers in the Per Diem and
|
0001| Mileage Act."
|
0002| Section 2. EFFECTIVE DATE.--The effective date of the
|
0003| provisions of this act is July 1, 1997.
