0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR INDIAN EDUCATION PROJECTS FOR

0012|     EXCELLENCE.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0015|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred thousand dollars
    |
0016|     ($100,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
    |
0017|     department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0018|     1998 for the purpose of continuing New Mexico Indian education
    |
0019|     center for excellence projects, which include encouraging
    |
0020|     learning by the development of projects in day schools and
    |
0021|     public schools to enhance the capabilities of Indian students
    |
0022|     in reading, writing, math and language skills as well as
    |
0023|     traditional language and culture.  Any unexpended or
    |
0024|     unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1998
    |
0025|     shall revert to the general fund.
