0011| RELATING TO GAMBLING; ENACTING A NEW SECTION OF THE CRIMINAL

0012| CODE TO PROVIDE FOR BINGO OPERATIONS BY SENIOR CITIZEN GROUPS.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0015| Section 1. A new section of the Criminal Code, Section
|
0016| 30-19-7.2 NMSA 1978 is enacted to read:
|
0017| "30-19-7.2. [NEW MATERIAL] RECREATIONAL BINGO
|
0018| EXCEPTION.--Nothing in this chapter or in the New Mexico Bingo
|
0019| and Raffle Act prohibits a senior citizen group from organizing
|
0020| and conducting bingo at a senior citizen center, provided that
|
0021| no person other than players participating in the bingo game
|
0022| receive or become entitled to receive any part of the proceeds,
|
0023| either directly or indirectly, from the bingo game, and no
|
0024| minor is allowed to participate in the organization or conduct
|
0025| of games or play bingo. As used in this section, "senior
|
0001| citizen group" means an organization in which the majority of
|
0002| the membership consists of persons who are at least fifty-five
|
0003| years of age and the primary activities and purposes of which
|
0004| are to provide recreational or social activities for those
|
0005| persons."
