0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR A DROPOUT PREVENTION PILOT PROJECT

0012|     IN THE DONA ANA SCHOOLS.

0014|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0015|          Section 1.  APROPRIATION.--Twenty-four thousand dollars
    |
0016|     ($24,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
    |
0017|     department of public education for expenditure in fiscal year
    |
0018|     1998 to conduct or contract for a pilot project to reduce the
    |
0019|     serious dropout rate in the public schools.  The pilot project
    |
0020|     shall be conducted in the Dona Ana school district.   Any
    |
0021|     unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
    |
0022|     fiscal year 1998 shall revert to the general fund.
