0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR SUPPORT OF AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN

0012|     STUDIES GRADUATE PROGRAM AT THE UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO;

0013|     DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0015|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0016|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Seventy-five thousand dollars
    |
0017|     ($75,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the board of
    |
0018|     regents of the university of New Mexico for expenditure in
    |
0019|     fiscal years 1997 and 1998 for the purpose of implementing an
    |
0020|     African-American studies graduate program at the university of
    |
0021|     New Mexico.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining
    |
0022|     at the end of fiscal years 1997 and 1998 shall revert to the
    |
0023|     general fund.
    |
0024|          Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0025|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
