0011|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS GRANT FUND

0012|     SO THAT THE CORRECTIONS DEPARTMENT MAY CONTRACT WITH A

0013|     NONPROFIT CORPORATION FOR THE OPERATION OF COMMUNITY-BASED
    |
0014|     PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE SERVICES TO CERTAIN CRIMINAL OFFENDERS.

0016|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0017|          Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--One hundred sixty-five
    |
0018|     thousand dollars ($165,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0019|     fund to the community corrections grant fund for expenditure in
    |
0020|     fiscal year 1998 so that the corrections department may
    |
0021|     contract with a nonprofit corporation for the operation of
    |
0022|     community-based programs that provide services to criminal
    |
0023|     offenders, including criminal offenders who are veterans of
    |
0024|     military service.  The community-based programs shall be
    |
0025|     operated in accordance with the provisions of the Adult
    |
0001|     Community Corrections Act.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0002|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1998 shall not
    |
0003|     revert to the general fund.

0025|   PROGRAMS THAT PROVIDE SERVICES TO CERTAIN CRIMINAL OFFENDERS" and

0001|   insert in lieu thereof "MAKE A GRANT TO A NONPROFIT CORPORATION
    |
0002|   FOR THE OPERATION OF A COMMUNITY-BASED PROGRAM THAT WILL

0003|   INITIALLY PROVIDE REINTEGRATION SERVICES TO CERTAIN CRIMINAL

0004|   OFFENDERS IN LOS ALAMOS".

0006|        2.  On page 1, lines 20 through 22, strike "contract with a

    |

0009|   in lieu thereof: "make a grant to a nonprofit corporation for the
    |
0010|   operation of a community-based program that will initially
    |
0011|   provide reintegration services to criminal offenders in Los
    |
0012|   Alamos".
