A new Section 30-7-2.4 NMSA 1978 is enacted to | 0016| read: | 0017| "30-7-2.4. [NEW MATERIAL] UNLAWFUL CARRYING OF A | 0018| DEADLY WEAPON ON STATE PREMISES.-- | 0019| A. Unlawful carrying of a deadly weapon on state | 0020| premises consists of carrying a deadly weapon on state premises | 0021| by a person other than: | 0022| (1) a peace officer; | 0023| (2) private security personnel hired by or | 0024| under contract with the state to provide armed security; or | 0025| (3) a person older than nineteen years of age | 0001| in a private automobile or other private means of conveyance | 0002| for lawful protection of the person's or another's person or | 0003| property. | 0004| B. As used in this section: | 0005| (1) "state" means the state of New Mexico and | 0006| any of its branches, agencies, departments, boards, | 0007| commissions, instrumentalities and institutions, including | 0008| higher education institutions; and | 0009| (2) "state premises" means the buildings, | 0010| together with grounds and parking areas, in or on which state | 0011| activities are regularly conducted under the supervision of | 0012| state management personnel. | 0013| C. Whoever commits unlawful carrying of a deadly | 0014| weapon on state premises is guilty of a fourth degree felony." | 0015|  |
