0011| RELATING TO FOOD PRODUCTS; EXEMPTING CERTAIN GAME MEAT PRODUCTS

0012| FROM THE PROVISIONS OF THE NEW MEXICO FOOD ACT.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0015| Section 1. A new section of the New Mexico Food Act is
|
0016| enacted to read:
|
0017| "[NEW MATERIAL] DONATED GAME MEAT PRODUCTS--EXEMPTION.-
|
0018| -

0019| A. The provisions of the New Mexico Food Act shall
|
0020| not apply to wild game meat products that have been donated by
|
0021| hunters, taken to a commercial meat processor for preparation
|
0022| and delivery to charitable, religious or other nonprofit
|
0023| organizations and distributed for human consumption at no
|
0024| charge to homeless or other indigent individuals.
|
0025| B. For purposes of this section, "wild game" means
|
0001| deer, elk, antelope, caribou, ibex, oryx and Barbary sheep.
|
0002| C. If a charitable, religious or other nonprofit
|
0003| organization prepares or serves wild game pursuant to
|
0004| Subsection A of this section, the organization shall post at
|
0005| the entrance to the dining area a sign bearing the following
|
0006| message: "The wild game served at this facility has not been
|
0007| subject to state or federal inspection."

0022| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0023| Section 1. DONATED GAME MEAT PRODUCTS.--
|
0024| A. Wild game meat products may be donated by
|
0025| hunters, taken to a commercial meat processor for preparation
|
0001| and delivery to charitable, religious or other nonprofit
|
0002| organizations and served for human consumption at no charge if
|
0003| transported, stored and processed according to procedures
|
0004| established by the department of environment.
|
0005| B. For purposes of this section, "wild game" means
|
