0011| RELATING TO HEALTH; REQUIRING REGIONALIZATION OF MEDICAID

0012| MANAGED CARE.

0014| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0015| Section 1. MEDICAID MANAGED CARE--REGIONALIZATION
|
0016| REQUIRED.--If a managed care program for medicaid is
|
0017| instituted, the human services department shall enter into
|
0018| contracts to cover separate geographical regions in the state
|
0019| and shall not enter into any contract that requires an entity
|
0020| to provide statewide services in every geographical region of
|
0021| the state. The regionalization of a medicaid managed care
|
0022| program shall be structured by the department to achieve
|
0023| maximum cost savings in the program's operation and shall be
|
0024| designed to protect the operations of and use effectively local
|
0025| health care providers and facilities.
