  Mr. Speaker:
  
       Your JUDICIARY COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred
  
                        HOUSE BILL 249
                               
  has had it under consideration and reports same with
  recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:
  
       1.  On page 3, lines 8 and 9, strike "Notwithstanding the
  provisions of Section 31-18-13 NMSA 1978, a" and insert in lieu
  thereof "A".
       
       2.  On page 3, line 15, strike "shall" and insert in lieu
  thereof "may".
       
       3.  On page 3, lines 16 and 17, strike "less than thirty days,
  which shall not be suspended or deferred, and not more than six
  months" and insert in lieu thereof "more than three hundred sixty-
  four days".
       
       4.  On page 4, line 25 and page 5, line 1, strike
  "Notwithstanding the provisions of Section 31-18-13 NMSA 1978, a"
  and insert in lieu thereof "A".
  
       5.  On page 5, line 7, strike "shall" and insert in lieu
  thereof "may".
