0011| MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION

0012| DIVISION OF THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC EDUCATION TO PROVIDE

0013| STATEWIDE INDEPENDENT LIVING SERVICES FOR INDIVIDUALS WITH
|
0014| DISABILITIES.

0016| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
|
0017| Section 1. APPROPRIATION.--Two hundred thousand dollars
|
0018| ($200,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
|
0019| vocational rehabilitation division of the state department of
|
0020| public education for expenditure in fiscal year 1998 for the
|
0021| purpose of expanding consumer-controlled, community-based
|
0022| independent living services, including peer counseling,
|
0023| information and referral, systems advocacy, life skills
|
0024| training and other related services for individuals with
|
0025| disabilities through centers for independent living in priority
|
0001| areas of the state as established by the statewide independent
|
0002| living council. The vocational rehabilitation division of the
|
0003| state department of public education, in conjunction with the
|
0004| statewide independent living council, shall conduct a
|
0005| competitive application and review process or continue state-
|
0006| funded programs to award funds for individual projects and may
|
0007| apply an indirect cost rate of up to five percent, including
|
0008| the addition of a full-time-equivalent position, for
|
0009| administering and monitoring projects. Any unexpended or
|
0010| unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1998
|
0011| shall revert to the general fund.
