RHODES | 0006| | 0007| | 0008| | 0009| | 0010| | 0011| A JOINT RESOLUTION | 0012| PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 4, SECTION 10 OF THE | 0013| CONSTITUTION OF NEW MEXICO TO LIMIT LEGISLATIVE PER DIEM AND | 0014| MILEAGE TO AN AMOUNT ALLOWED BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE. | 0015| | 0016| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO: | 0017| Section 1. It is proposed to amend Article 4, Section 10 | 0018| of the constitution of New Mexico to read: | 0019| "Each member of the legislature shall receive: | 0020| A. [as] per diem [expense the sum of not more than | 0021| seventy-five dollars ($75.00) for each day's attendance during | 0022| each session as provided by law, and twenty-five cents ($.25)] | 0023| at the internal revenue service per diem rate for the city of | 0024| Santa Fe for each day's attendance during each session of the | 0025| legislature and the internal revenue service standard mileage | 0001| rate for each mile traveled in going to and returning from the | 0002| seat of government by the usual traveled route, once each | 0003| session as defined by Article 4, Section 5 of this constitution; | 0004| B. per diem expense and mileage at the same rates as | 0005| provided in Subsection A of this section for service at meetings | 0006| required by legislative committees established by the | 0007| legislature to meet in the interim between sessions; and | 0008| C. no other compensation, perquisite or allowance." | 0009| Section 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall | 0010| be submitted to the people for their approval or rejection at | 0011| the next general election or at any special election prior to | 0012| that date which may be called for that purpose. | 0013|  |
