0012|     PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 20 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF NEW

0013|     MEXICO TO PROHIBIT THE SOLEMNIZING OF SAME-SEX MARRIAGES AND TO

0014|     REQUIRE THAT ALL SAME-SEX MARRIAGES RECOGNIZED AS VALID IN

0015|     ANOTHER STATE BE CONSIDERED INVALID IN THIS STATE.

0017|     BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0018|       Section 1.  It is proposed to amend Article 20 of the
    |
0019|     constitution of New Mexico by adding a new section to read:
    |
0020|       "No person authorized by the laws of this state to
    |
0021|     solemnize marriages shall knowingly unite persons of the same
    |
0022|     sex in marriage.  All same-sex marriages that are valid
    |
0023|     according to the laws of another state shall be considered
    |
0024|     invalid in this state."
    |
0025|       Section 2.  The amendment proposed by this resolution shall
    |
0001|     be submitted to the people for their approval or rejection at
    |
0002|     the next general election or at any special election prior to
    |
0003|     that date which may be called for that purpose.
