0012| RECOGNIZING NEW MEXICO'S TWO-YEAR POST-SECONDARY EDUCATIONAL

0013| INSTITUTIONS AS LEADERS IN WORK FORCE DEVELOPMENT.

0015| WHEREAS, New Mexico's two-year colleges are well positioned
|
0016| to be the primary resource for work force training and
|
0017| retraining; and
|
0018| WHEREAS, New Mexico's two-year colleges are an in-place
|
0019| service provider for work force training and retraining; and
|
0020| WHEREAS, the mission of most of the state's two-year
|
0021| colleges emphasizes their role in job training; and
|
0022| WHEREAS, the private sector is investing in successful two-year college career programs in the state through contract
|
0023| training and sponsorship; and
|
0024| WHEREAS, New Mexico's two-year colleges are full partners
|
0025| with secondary schools that build a seamless path to higher
|
0001| education while strengthening career-related education at all
|
0002| levels; and
|
0003| WHEREAS, recognizing New Mexico's two-year colleges for the
|
0004| quality training they provide can fuel the state's economic
|
0005| growth by retaining industry and attracting new industry;
|
0006| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE
|
0007| OF NEW MEXICO that as the state debates how to best use federal
|
0008| dollars for job training, the accomplishments and the potential
|
0009| of New Mexico's two-year colleges not be overlooked; and
|
0010| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that given the historical leadership
|
0011| role that New Mexico's two-year colleges have played in work
|
0012| force development, they be called upon to play a role in
|
0013| designing the state's work force development strategy; and
|
0014| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
|
0015| transmitted to the governor and lieutenant governor and to other
|
0016| state agency heads interested in developing work force
|
0017| development strategies.
