0012| REQUESTING THE NEW MEXICO CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION TO SEEK

0013| FEDERAL FUNDS FOR THE SHIPROCK MULTIPURPOSE CENTER IN SAN JUAN

0016| WHEREAS, the Shiprock community in San Juan county has
|
0017| pursued with substantial energy and commitment the need for
|
0018| construction of a multipurpose center to serve critical needs of
|
0019| the Shiprock community, including in particular the very young
|
0020| and very old; and
|
0021| WHEREAS, the state of New Mexico has recognized the
|
0022| important needs of the Shiprock community and appropriated five
|
0023| hundred sixty thousand dollars ($560,000) for planning, design,
|
0024| construction and equipment for the Shiprock multipurpose center;
|
0025| and
|
0001| WHEREAS, the Navajo nation has similarly recognized the
|
0002| important needs of the Shiprock community and committed two
|
0003| hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) for planning, design,
|
0004| construction and equipment for the Shiprock multipurpose center;
|
0005| NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE
|
0006| STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the federal government be requested to
|
0007| pursue funding options that might be available to contribute
|
0008| five million dollars ($5,000,000) to help complete construction
|
0009| of the Shiprock multipurpose center; and
|
0010| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the New Mexico congressional
|
0011| delegation be urged to contact all appropriate federal officials
|
0012| to pursue funding options that might be available from the
|
0013| federal government to contribute five million dollars
|
0014| ($5,000,000) to the construction of the Shiprock multipurpose
|
0015| center; and
|
0016| BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be sent
|
0017| to all members of the New Mexico congressional delegation.
