0019|     RELATING TO THE PUBLIC PEACE, HEALTH, SAFETY AND WELFARE; MAKING

0020|     AN APPROPRIATION TO REIMBURSE SANTA FE FAMILIES FOR DIVERSION OF

0021|     WATER FOR USE IN THE CITY OF SANTA FE LOCATED IN SANTA FE
    |
0022|     COUNTY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0024|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

0025| Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Two million five hundred
    |
0001|     thousand dollars ($2,500,000) is appropriated from the general
    |
0002|     fund to the office of the state engineer for expenditure in
    |
0003|     fiscal years 1996 and 1997 for the purpose of reimbursing Santa
    |
0004|     Fe families who have been deprived of the use of water that was
    |
0005|     diverted for use by the city of Santa Fe located in Santa Fe
    |
0006|     county.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the
    |
0007|     end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
    |
0008|       Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0009|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
