0012|     MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF GRADUATE

0015|     LOCATED IN DONA ANA COUNTY; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0017|     BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0018|       Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Seven hundred fifty thousand
    |
0019|     dollars ($750,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
    |
0020|     board of regents of New Mexico state university for expenditure
    |
0021|     in fiscal years 1996 and 1997 for the purpose of increasing the
    |
0022|     amount of graduate assistant stipends and the number of graduate
    |
0023|     assistantships at New Mexico state university in Las Cruces
    |
0024|     located in Dona Ana county.  Any unexpended or unencumbered
    |
0025|     balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to
    |
0001|     the general fund.
    |
0002|       Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public
    |
0003|     peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
