0003| JUDGE IN THE EIGHTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT; AMENDING A SECTION OF THE NMSA

0004| 1978; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0006| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0007|      Section 1.  Section 34-6-11 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1968, Chapter 69, Section 14, as
    |
0008| amended) is amended to read:
    |
0009|      "34-6-11.  JUDGES--EIGHTH JUDICIAL DISTRICT.--There shall be two district
    |
0010| judges in the eighth judicial district, serving divisions one and two.  One of the judges shall
    |
0011| maintain his principal office in Colfax or Union county and the other judge shall maintain his
    |
0012| principal office in Taos county.  The chief judge of the eighth judicial shall be selected by a
    |
0013| majority of the district judges in that district.  In the event of a tie, the senior judge shall be the
    |
0014| chief judge."

0015|      Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety
    |
0016|                                                               that this act take effect immediately.
