0002| RELATING TO CAPITAL EXPENDITURES; EXTENDING THE EXPENDITURE PERIOD

0003| FOR CERTAIN APPROPRIATIONS TO THE LIBRARY DIVISION OF THE OFFICE OF

0004| CULTURAL AFFAIRS; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

0006| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:          Section 1.  APPROPRIATIONS--EXTENDING EXPENDITURE PERIOD.--
    |
0007|           A.  The period of time in which the following appropriations from the general
    |
0008| fund to the library division of the office of cultural affairs made in Laws 1994, Chapter 148,
    |
0009| Section 44 may be expended shall be extended through fiscal year 1997:
    |
0010|                (1)  to purchase equipment, computers and communication and
    |
0011| distribution systems for the purpose of connecting New Mexico libraries in a statewide
    |
0012| communication network, creating a unified catalog in certain libraries and for a pilot program
    |

0013| for a document and book delivery system pursuant to Subsection E; and
    |
0014|                (2)  to provide computer networking capacity, improve library staff skills
    |
0015| and provide programs and staff necessary to integrate Native American community libraries into
    |
0016| the state library network system pursuant to Subsection H.
    |
0017|           B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year
    |
0018| 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
    |
0019|      Section 2.  EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety
    |
0020|                                                               that this act take effect immediately.
