0002| PROPOSING AN AMENDMENT TO ARTICLE 4, SECTION 10 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF

0003| NEW MEXICO TO LIMIT LEGISLATIVE PER DIEM AND MILEAGE TO AN AMOUNT

0004| ALLOWED BY THE INTERNAL REVENUE SERVICE.

0006| BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0007|      Section 1.  It is proposed to amend Article 4, Section 10 of the
    |
0008| constitution of New Mexico to read:
    |
0009|      "Each member of the legislature shall receive:
    |
0010|           A.  per diem at the internal revenue service per diem rate
    |
0011| for the city of Santa Fe for each day's attendance during each session
    |
0012| of the legislature and the internal revenue service standard mileage
    |
0013| rate for each mile traveled in going to and returning from the seat of
    |
0014| government by the usual traveled route, once each session as defined by
    |
0015| Article 4, Section 5 of this constitution;
    |
0016|           B.  per diem expense and mileage at the same rates as
    |
0017| provided in Subsection A of this section for service at meetings
    |
0018| required by legislative committees established by the legislature to
    |
0019| meet in the interim between sessions; and
    |
0020|           C.  no other compensation, perquisite or allowance."
    |
0021|      Section 2.  The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be
    |
0022| submitted to the people for their approval or rejection at the next
    |
0023| general election or at any special election prior to that date which may
    |
0024| be called for that purpose.
