0001| AN ACT | 0002| MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE NEW MEXICO FINANCE AUTHORITY FOR | 0003| DEVELOPMENT OF A PLAN FOR A GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM. | 0004| | 0005| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO: | 0006| Section 1. APPROPRIATION.-- | 0007| A. Fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) is appropriated from the | 0008| general fund to the New Mexico finance authority for expenditure in | 0009| fiscal year 1997 for the purpose of developing or contracting for the | 0010| development of a plan for a geographic information system to serve all | 0011| New Mexico. In developing the plan, the authority shall at a minimum: | 0012| (1) review the status of current base maps and | 0013| geographic information data accessible in counties throughout New Mexico | 0014| and identify the desirable features of a fully developed geographic | 0015| information system for all New Mexico counties; | 0016| (2) identify counties where the need for a geographic | 0017| information system is greatest; | 0018| (3) identify interested private and public parties and | 0019| information resources and work with those private and public parties and | 0020| information resources to develop the plan for a full and complete | 0021| statewide geographic information system; | 0022| (4) determine implementation costs and possible | 0023| funding sources; | 0024| (5) review other geographic information systems around | 0025| the state, including those maintained by the state land office, federal | 0001| laboratories and title companies; and | 0002| (6) complete the plan and submit it to the New Mexico | 0003| finance authority oversight committee by November 1, 1996. | 0004| B.
