0003| FEASIBILITY OF INSTITUTING AN ACADEMY PROGRAM AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL

0006| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0007|      Section 1.  APPROPRIATION.--Seven thousand five hundred dollars
    |
0008| ($7,500) is appropriated from the general fund to the state department
    |
0009| of public education for expenditure in fiscal year 1997 to fund a study
    |
0010| of the feasibility of implementing an academy program at the middle
    |
0011| school level of public education in the Albuquerque public schools.  The
    |
0012| state department of education shall submit a program evaluation to the
    |
0013| legislative education study committee and the legislative finance
    |
0014| committee by November 1, 1996, detailing the benefits of this program to
    |
0015| the targeted population.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance
    |
0016| remaining at the end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general
    |
0017| fund.
