0002| MAKING APPROPRIATIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO PROVIDE OR CONTRACT

0003| FOR SERVICES TO PERSONS WITH MENTAL ILLNESSES.

0005| BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
    |
0006|      Section 1.  APPROPRIATIONS.--
    |
0007|           A. Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated
    |
0008| from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in
    |
0009| fiscal year 1997 to provide or contract for the following purposes in
    |
0010| the following amounts:
    |
0011|                (1) one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000)
    |
0012| to expand the mental health in the '90s program, including expansion to
    |
0013| communities with a small population of mentally ill persons, for
    |
0014| individualized services for additional seriously disabled mentally ill
    |
0015| persons;
    |
0016|                (2) one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000)
    |
0017| to provide or contract for residential support services for seriously
    |
0018| disabled mentally ill persons, including:
    |
0019|                     (a) services to communities with small
    |
0020| populations of mentally ill persons; 
    |
0021|                     (b) planning and accessing housing; 
    |
0022|                     (c) security deposits;
    |
0023|                     (d) interim rent and related housing
    |
0024| costs;
    |
0025|                     (e) supervised living expenses; and 
    |
0001|                     (f) demonstration projects;
    |
0002|                (3) one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000)
    |
0003| to alleviate statewide waiting lists of seriously disabled mentally ill
    |
0004| persons for psychosocial rehabilitation, case management and supported
    |
0005| employment training; and
    |
0006|                (4) one hundred twenty-five thousand dollars ($125,000)
    |
0007| to expand outpatient mental health services, including services for the
    |
0008| underserved Native American community.
    |
0009|           B.  Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the
    |
0010| end of fiscal year 1997 shall revert to the general fund.
