A MEMORIAL
RECOGNIZING THE BLUE BUTTERFLY AS A SYMBOL TO BRING AWARENESS TO HUNTINGTON'S DISEASE.
WHEREAS, Huntington's disease is a rare inherited disease that attacks areas of the brain that control voluntary movement, balance, walking and cognitive functioning; and
WHEREAS, the blue butterfly is recognized as a symbol of awareness and hope for a cure for those with Huntington's disease; and
WHEREAS, the Huntington's disease blue butterfly symbol has been pictured with the slogan "We Don't Know How Strong We Are Until Being Strong Is The Only Choice We Have";
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that the blue butterfly be recognized as a symbol of awareness and hope for people with Huntington's disease; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be transmitted to the Huntington's disease society of America-New Mexico and the national Huntington's disease society of America.
