    Your CONSUMER & PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE, to whom has been referred

 

HOUSE BILL 144

 

has had it under consideration and reports same with recommendation that it DO PASS, amended as follows:

 

     1. On page 1, lines 12 and 13, strike "CREATING THE DIRECTOR SELECTION COMMITTEE;".

 

     2. On page 1, line 14, after "REPORTS", insert "; MAKING AN APPROPRIATION".

 

     3. On page 1, strike lines 22 and 23 in their entirety.

 

     4. Reletter the succeeding subsections accordingly.

 

     5. On page 2, strike lines 12 through 14 in their entirety and insert in lieu thereof "governor and is an exempt employee. The".

 

     6. On page 2, line 17, after the period, strike the remainder of the line, strike line 18 in its entirety and strike line 19 through the period.

 

     7. On page 3, strike lines 13 through 25 and on page 4, strike lines 1 through 12.

 

     8. On page 4, line 18, strike "office shall" and insert in lieu thereof "department shall, within the injury and violence prevention program,".

 

     9. On page 6, between lines 23 and 24, insert:

 

     "SECTION 9. APPROPRIATION.--Five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2025 to hire or contract employees to perform the duties of the Office of Gun Violence Prevention and Intervention Act. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2025 shall revert to the general fund.".

 

     10. Renumber the succeeding sections accordingly.,

 

 

and thence referred to the JUDICIARY COMMITTEE.
