AN ACT

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE PUBLIC EDUCATION DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT TO ALL PUBLIC SCHOOL STUDENTS ENROLLED THROUGH THE END OF THE 2021-2022 SCHOOL YEAR; DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:

     SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million five hundred fifty thousand dollars ($1,550,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the public education department for expenditure in fiscal year 2022 to provide all public school students enrolled through the end of the 2021-2022 school year with adequate personal protective equipment. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2022 shall revert to the general fund.

     SECTION 2. EMERGENCY.--It is necessary for the public peace, health and safety that this act take effect immediately.
