AN ACT
MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TO CONTRACT FOR SERVICES TO COLLECT AND ASSESS STATEWIDE DATA PERTINENT TO BRAIN INJURY; PERFORM A STUDY OF THE ADEQUACY OF EXISTING RESOURCES AVAILABLE IN NEW MEXICO TO PEOPLE WITH ACQUIRED BRAIN INJURY; SURVEY COMPARABLE SERVICES PROVIDED IN OTHER STATES; AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION OF ADDITIONAL SERVICES IN NEW MEXICO.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--
A. One hundred fifty thousand dollars ($150,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the department of health for expenditure in fiscal year 2022 to contract for services for the following purposes:
(1) to collect and assess statewide data pertinent to brain injury;
(2) to perform a study of the adequacy of existing resources available in New Mexico to people with acquired brain injury;
(3) to survey comparable services provided in other states; and
(4) to make recommendations for the development and expansion of additional services in New Mexico and report findings and recommendations to the department
of health, the legislative health and human services committee
and the legislative finance committee.
B. Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2022 shall revert to the general fund.
